2022.04.28

Masahiro Distillery was founded in 1883 by Shobun Higa, whose father Shozoku Higa was the Master Chef for Ryukyu Kingdom. With the help of Shozoku Higa’s reputation and connections, the distillery was awarded the license to make the traditional Okinawan spirits “Awamori” and has established itself as one of the oldest and largest distilleries in Okinawa, Japan.

Enhancing tradition with modern business philosophy, Masahiro Distillery is the first Okinawan distillery to be certified for ISO 9001 (the international standard for a quality management system), while attracting tourists and spirit enthusiasts for its scenic environment.

Masahiro Distillery’s company philosophy, “produce only the best spirits and liquors,” expresses the passion of the owner family as descendants of a royal court chef. This passion has also influenced the distillery’s whiskey production, which it continues to refine every day with the ambition of “becoming one of the top global producers of premium whisky. ”

Masahiro Pure Malt Whisky blends pure malt which is aged in old sherry butts and bourbon casks for more than three years, and then we make them aged in Jack Daniel’s first fill bourbon barrel for at least half a year.
